(Effingham) — Travel on I-70 near Effingham was shut down for about thirty minutes yesterday following a hit and run accident that sent one to the hospital. According to the Illinois State Police fifty five year old Dennis Okyere of Los Angeles, California was eastbound when an unidentified semi and trailer, in the passing lane swerved into the right lane forcing Okyere off of the right shoulder of I-70. Okyere swerved back on to the road and overturned blocking both lanes of traffic. Okyere was taken to St. Anthony Hospital in Effingham for treatment of his injuries. The semi did not stop or report the accident and no other information is available at this time.
