Oblong Panthers Hang on for Win

(Oblong) – The Oblong Panthers Baseball team hung on for a win over Hutsonville-Palestine yesterday. Oblong picked up the 8-7 win in the eighth inning when Kacey Cheek homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs and breaking up the five all tie. Cheek led the Panthers, driving in five runs going 3-for-4 at the plate. Conner Potts earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Oblong. He lasted three innings, allowing one hit and two runs while striking out two. Josh Bailey and Cheek entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief. With the win Oblong evens their record at 5-5 on the season.
