Palestine To Kick-off State Bicentennial Celebration

(Palestine) — Palestine will be the home of a special event in recognition of Illinois birthday as a state. This afternoon, promptly at noon, the Village of Palestine will have an Illinois Bicentennial Flag raising ceremony in honor of the State of Illinois Bicentennial. Palestine Mayor James Byrley will read a proclamation as the flag is being raised. Everyone is invited to attend the beginning of this year-long celebration. The flag raising will be held at the Municipal Building at 301 South Main Street. The Illinois Bicentennial will be a year long celebration now through December 3rd 2018, which will be our state’s 200th birthday.
