(Knox County, IN) — Knox County, Indiana Commissioners have declared a public health emergency. Commissioners issued the declaration after two diagnosed cases of tuberculosis. According to the Commissioners the action was taken to give the health department more resources. Tuberculosis treatment requires an extra level of care and with the declaration the health department can access equipment and workers can bank more overtime and/or comp time. The Commissioners voted to temporarily re-classify some nurses in an effort to make sure patients get the elevated care needed.
