(Lawrencville) — A Princeton, Indiana woman was taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon following an accident. According to the Illinois State Police thirty five year old Samantha Smith was traveling East on old Route 50 near Lawrenceville when she was passed by another vehicle which did not complete the pass safely and cut in front of Smith causing her to lose control of her vehicle. She slid sideways down Route 50, went off the road and struck the ditch on the South side of Route 50. Her vehicle then overturned multiple times before coming to rest upside down in a field. Smith was ejected from the vehicle. The other vehicle continued on and did not stop. Smith was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and then transferred to IU Hospital in Bloomigton. The accident is under investigation.
