15-2 Run Late 1st Half Helps Statesmen Win

(Matoon) — The Lincoln Trail Statesmen moved on in District play with a 96-79 victory over host Lake Land College. One of the key parts of the game came in the first half when Lincoln Trail used a 15-2 run to get the lead. They were down as many as 10 points in the first half, but we up 37-34 at halftime and never trailed when the game got tied up at 31 late in the first half. Lincoln Trail built their lead as high as 19. ChuChu Enechionyia lead the Statesmen with 20 points in the victory, pacing 5 Statesmen in double figures. Kendall Jones had 19, Cassius Bell Jr. 18, LeAaron Cain 14, and Justin Williams contributed 13. Lincoln Trail will continue district play on Wednesday at Rend Lake against John A. Logan
