Police Presence Strong For Student “Walk-Out”

(Robinson) — Law enforcement and other emergency personnel were on alert this morning for the EMPOWER student “walk-out.” According to Robinson Police Chief Chad Weaver in preparation for the walkout his officers teamed up with emergency services as well as school officials across the county and were in place well before school started for the day. Most of the daily efforts to protect the community and especially the students may have gone largely unnoticed by the public. Weaver says, this not by happenstance, much of the security work is effective because it is not obvious and as such, potential “bad guys” are not privy to the tactical operations of law enforcement. Beyond the “marked” patrols and uniformed officers at the area schools, many locations also had “plain clothed” officers on campus. Weaver says the shared preparation and response to this mornings walkout is worth mentioning, in broad terms, to help shed some light on the lengths the entire emergency response community is willing to go to avert and mitigate disasters.
