Palestine Man Behind Bars Following Theft Arrest

(Palestine) — A Palestine man is behind bars following his arrest last night. According to Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing at around 6:50pm last night Palestine Police Officer Brandon Carpenter was dispatched to Casey’s in Palestine to investigate a claim of retail theft. As a result of the investigation authorities arrested thirty six year old Robert Clay. Authorities report that due to his erratic and uncontrollable behavior he was taken to CMH for evaluation. Once he was medically cleared, Clay was booked into the Crawford County Jail and charged with Retail Theft under $300, Resisting a Peace Officer and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, approximately 17gms of Crystal Methamphetamine. He is being held pending bond being set by a judge.
