(Undated) — Even though the forecast is calling for a relatively dry Friday the weekend continues to look wet. The Flood Warning for a handful of rivers across the state continues through the weekend. The National Weather Service expects the Wabash River in Hutsonville to crest at nearly twenty one feet by Monday and then begin to fall through the week, falling back below flood stage by April 7th. Motorists should never drive into flood water. Turn around and go another way. Keep children away from flooded areas. According to the National Weather Service just six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles. It is NEVER safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
