State Police Seize 143 Pounds of Cocaine

(Undated) – Illinois State Police in Effingham seized more than a million dollars of suspected cocaine following a traffic stop recently. According to District 12 Commander, Captain Cory Restvedt Saturday afternoon an Illinois State Trooper stopped fifty three year old Emigdo Medina of Las Vegas for a traffic violation on Interstate 70 near St. Elmo. During the stop approximately 143 pounds of suspected cocaine was discovered. Medina was charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance. The Fayette County State’s Attorney and Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force assisted with the investigation.
