(Palestine) – The Palestine Village Board approved the 2018-2019 tax levy when they met last night. In other business the Palestine Development Association was on hand last night seeking approval to have first priority of rental of the new pavilion built on Main Street. More clarification is needed so the issue is tabled until the July board meeting. The Village Board also amended the ordinance regarding playing live music at village business. The time has been extended from 11:15 to midnight. However anyone holding a special event will need to apply for a onetime event permit. Palestine Police Chief Jeff Besing reported to the board that there has been a rash of bicycle thefts in the village and his department is working on some ideas to curtail the issue.
