(Undated) – The National Weather Service is expecting the Wabash River in Hutsonville to crest sometime Thursday at about four feet above flood stage. Add to that a Flood Watch in effect though today and a Flood Warning in effect through at least Friday, motorists are reminded that you should never drive into flood waters. Turn around and go another way. Keep children away from flooded areas as well. According to the National Weather Service just six inches of fast-moving flood water can knock over an adult. It takes just 12 inches of rushing water to carry away a small car, while 2 feet of rushing water can carry away most vehicles. It is never safe to drive or walk into flood waters.
