County Schools Will Benefit from Awarded Grants

(Undated) – The Hutsonville Unit 1 School Board announced last night during their regular monthly meeting that a pair of grants that they applied for have been awarded. The grants are part of the Illinois State Board of Education competitive grant program. The first grant will provide pre-school classes yearly for the next five years. Fiscal Year 2019 “Preschool for All” was awarded ninety three thousand four hundred and seventy eight dollars a year for five years with a grant total of four hundred and sixty seven thousand three hundred and ninety dollars. The second grant was applied for by Hutsonville School District in partnership with every school in Crawford and Clark County. Children in Hutsonville, Oblong, Robinson, Palestine, Martinsville, Casey, and Marshall school districts will benefit from the project. The grant project is called the “Crawford Clark Prevention Initiative” and will provide home visits, resources, and services for children from ages 0 to 3 and their families. The “Prevention Initiative” awarded four hundred sixty one thousand four hundred and eight two dollars a year for five years with a grant total of two million three hundred seven thousand four hundred and ten dollars.
