Don’t Veer for a Deer

(Undated) – Authorities across the country are reminding drivers “Don’t veer for a deer.” This time of year, deer are on the move and car vs. deer crashes increase. The vast majority of these crashes result in property damage. When motorists find themselves in real trouble is when they panic, and veer away from the deer. A head-on collision or impact with a tree is often fatal for the occupants of a vehicle. State, county and local authorities are reminding drivers that if a deer jumps into your path apply the brakes and hold the wheel firmly. After impact safely pull your vehicle well off the roadway and call 911. Remember, don’t veer for deer.
