(Oblong) – The Oblong Police Department has welcomed a new officer. K9 Ruger has been “on the job” since mid November. Oblong Police Chief, Chad Pusey, is his handler. He is a 9 month old German Shepherd, certified in narcotics, apprehension and tracking. Since being put into service, K-9 Ruger has made three drug arrests and was used to locate the missing subject in the Oblong Park last week. Chief Pusey says having a K-9 partner is a valuable asset.

Chief Pusey and K-9 Ruger were certified by the American Police Working Dog Association and the State of Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board.
