Palestine Police Investigating Weekend Burglary

(Palestine) – Authorities in Palestine are currently investigating a trio of incidents including a burglary at the Saratoga Bar in downtown Palestine. According to Palestine Police Chief, Jeff Besing, his department and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services have been investigating the theft that occurred late Sunday or early Monday. Stolen was an undetermined amount of assorted liquor and cash. The Palestine PD is also investigating a report of a stolen Christmas tree with lights from the steps of a home on West Grand Prairie Street. Also, sometime over the weekend someone painted a “pentagram and 666” on the lighted sign on the corner of Jackson and Franklin Street as well as damaged the lighted Christmas trees on the same lot.
