MOUNT CARMEL, IL — The Lincoln Trail Lady Statesmen were swept in a double header with Wabash Valley 8-0 and 6-1 Tuesday.
In the first game, Wabash Valley jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and added 2 runs in each of the 3rd, 4th, and 5th innings to win on the run rule. McKenzie Pirtle took the loss in the first game.
In game 2, Wabash Valley took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Lincoln Trail tied the game in the top of the fifth on a Pirtle double. Pirtle on the same play got thrown out running to third, ending the top of the fifth. In the bottom half of the inning, Wabash Valley exploded for 5 runs to jump out to a 6-1 lead. Taylor Bayor took the loss in game two.
The Lady Statesmen after the losses fell to 4-15 on the season. They travel to Kaskaskia on Thursday.
