(Undated) – As motorists gear up for the busy Memorial Day travel weekend, the price at the pump could be a bit of a wild card. On the approach to the long weekend which is the official launch of the summer driving season, average gas prices are down for the second straight week, posting a 2.1 cent decline over the last week to $2.84 per gallon nationwide. The average price of diesel fell 0.3 cents to $3.09 per gallon. The statewide average in Illinois is down from a week ago to $2.98 a gallon. The average price here in Crawford County is $2.72 a gallon. The statewide average in Indiana is hovering around $2.85 a gallon.
