Leonard Headed to Miami as Part of a Three-Way Trade

(Robinson) – Robinson native and NBA star Meyers Leonard will be playing for the Miami Heat next season. Leonard is part of a three-way trade between the Blazers, Heat, and the Sixers. The move is centered around bringing Jimmy Butler to Miami where he will sign a max contract while Portland has jumped in on the deal to acquire Hassan Whiteside. In the deal, Portland sends Meyers Leonard to the Heat and Moe Harkless to the Clippers. Whiteside is entering the final year of his four-year, $98 million deal. Both Leonard and Harkless are entering the final year of their deals. Leonard has spent his entire career in Portland after entering the league in 2012 with Damian Lillard as the 11th pick by the Blazers. He averaged 5.6 points and 3.7 rebounds, shooting 47.9 percent from the floor and 38.5 percent from three-point range, while never finding a consistent role in the rotation.
