(Undated) – Another day with an afternoon heat index near 100 has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a “Heat Advisory” for the WTYE listening area. The “Heat Advisory” goes into effect this morning at 11 and will remain in effect until 7 pm. According to the latest information from the National Weather Service, highs in the lower 90s this afternoon with tropical dew points in the 70s will result in heat indices peaking from 100 to 108 across central and southeast Illinois. You are reminded that the very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Never leave pets, children or the elderly unattended in parked vehicles. Stay tuned to WTYE for the latest weather information.
