Student Taken Into Custody Following School Threat

(Oblong) – A threat by a student had Oblong High School had faculty, staff, and students on high alert yesterday. According to Oblong Superintendent, Jeff Patchett, the administration was notified of an alleged verbal threat at the High School and immediately notified the Oblong Police Department. Following a brief investigation, the individual who allegedly made the verbal threat was identified and taken into custody by Oblong Police Chief, Chad Pusey. The juvenile was transported to the Crawford County Jail. Both school administration and the police reiterate that safety and security are their top priority and they will continue to take action to maintain the safety of all students and staff.
