(Undated) – If your travels take you on Route 33 today, you may want to find an alternate route or change your schedule. The first of three oversized loads bound for Marathon will be making its way into town today. Oblong Mayor, Teresa Fielder, took to the village’s Facebook page to remind residents and downtown business owners that parking on Main street in Oblong will be prohibited for a portion of the day today. The current estimates have the “vessel” leaving the Newton area around 8:30 am this morning and making its way through Oblong between 11:30 am-12:30 pm. According to Crawford County Sheriff, Bill Rutan, it will take in the neighborhood of four hours for the item to make its way through Crawford County. As a result, Route 33 will be “mostly” closed during this time. State and local authorities will be coordinating efforts to control traffic and make the journey as smooth as possible.
