(Undated) – As hospitals across the country begin to see “non-emergency” patients, the Red Cross is asking for your blood and platelet donations. In an effort to prevent another blood shortage like the one that occurred at the onset for the COVID-19 pandemic in March, they ask all eligible donors to step up and give. According to the Red Cross, in recent weeks, hospital demand for blood products has grown by 30%. At the same time, blood drives continue to be canceled as many businesses and community organizations remain closed. The Red Cross will be set up at Palestine High School today from 12:30 pm-5:30 pm. They will be in Flat Rock Tuesday at the Community Center from 2 pm-6 pm.
