(Undated) – Wet weather is to blame for a two-vehicle accident yesterday afternoon that sent a Martinsville man to the hospital. According to the Illinois State Police, sixty-two-year-old Wayne Whalen was eastbound on I-70 in his 2000 Buick, when he lost control of his vehicle in the heavy rain and went through the median into the westbound lanes. He spun in the westbound lanes and was facing westbound when he was struck in the rear by Ahmed Sankus, driving a yellow 2014 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer. Whalen was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Sankus refused treatment at the scene.
