Avoid Planting or Throwing Out Seeds from China

scam-alert

(Springfield, IL) — State agriculture officials are warning Illinois residents not to plant or throw out packets of seeds that come in the mail from China. The state is investigating about 100 calls from residents who claim they’ve received such packets, including a woman in Wheaton. Agriculture officials in several states are studying the mailings to determine whether the seeds might be invasive species that could harm the environment or livestock. Anyone who receives these seed packets in the mail is asked to email the Illinois agriculture department.
