Several Local Counties Reported on State Covid-19 Warning List

Several area counties are reported to be on the warning list statewide as it comes to Covid-19.  Coles, Crawford, Effingham, Jasper, and Lawrence Counties in the area that have made the list of 30 counties statewide. According to officials, a county will enter warning level when two or more risk indicator measures are met. Those metrics include new cases per 100,000 people, number of deaths, weekly test positivity, ICU availability, weekly ER department visits, weekly hospital admissions, tests performed, or clusters. IDPH officials say that some of the common factors for an increase in cases or an outbreak include associating with college parties, weddings, large gatherings, bars and clubs, long-term care facilities, and other congragative settings. Officials also say that cases connected to schools are beginning to be reported and general transmission of Covid-19 in the community is also increasing.
