(Palestine) – Palestine Police Chief, Jeff Besing, recently issued a “Community Alert.” According to Besing, his office was advised that a local individual had been scammed out of some money by a caller pretending to be from AMAZON. The caller instructed the victims to purchase gift cards for cash and send them to him in regards to a problem with an order that had been placed. Chief Besing reminds the public to never let anyone talk you into sending cash, money orders, or monetary gift cards to any company or individual unless you know who you are sending it to.
