Burn Ban Issued for Crawford County

(Undated) – While the recent dry weather and warm temps have been good news for area farmers, the continued lack of significant rain has prompted a burn ban for the county. According to Crawford County Sheriff, Bill Rutan, he spoke with the majority of the Fire Protection Districts in Crawford County and due to the dry conditions, no open fires are permitted until a sizable amount of rain has fallen. Rutan reiterates that this does not apply to small contained recreational and cooking fires. The current forecast is calling for a chance of rain today and the early part of next week. However, it remains to be seen if it will be significant enough to lift the burn ban. Stay tuned to Classic Hits, WTYE, for the latest information.
