(Palestine) — This year has brought with it many challenges and most of our annual events have been canceled. However, Palestine will kick-off the Christmas season tonight. They’ll have their annual lighting celebration at Leaverton Park. Though it will be a smaller event than in years past, you can still enjoy the annual fireworks and official park lighting. According to the Palestine Chamber of Commerce, the event will get underway this evening at 7 pm. While this will be the only activity held this year at the park, there are new lights and displays to be seen. Officials in Palestine say they have added seven new LED Christmas displays in the park and two displays near the new information sign as you enter Palestine. Those in attendance tonight are reminded to remain in their vehicles and enjoy the show.
