Gas Price Stay Low

(Undated) – Following “subdued” Thanksgiving travel, gas prices have been mostly stable in the last week but that could change. According to Head of Petroleum Analysis for GasBuddy, Patrick DeHann, with oil holding near a pandemic high, we may see some upward pressure in the weeks ahead. However, it’s unlikely to be earth-shattering. Year to date gasoline demand remains over 10% below a year-ago levels but has continued to slowly recover over the closing months versus the early days of the pandemic. DeHaan believes we are likely to remain in somewhat of a limbo until early 2021 or when vaccines begin to see widespread distribution. The current national average is $2.13 a gallon. It’s $2.16 in Illinois and $2 even in Indiana.
