(Undated) – Travel plans have been a mess this year, thanks to COVID-19 and many have had to cancel or reschedule trips. However, according to a new survey by GasBuddy, thirty-four percent of Americans will be heading “over the river and through the woods” for Christmas. Nearly 60% of those surveyed said that COVID-19 has impacted their holiday travel plans. While a majority plan to simply stay put, 10% said they have switched up their mode of transportation to driving by car instead of by plane or train. When asked if gas prices were affecting holiday travel plans, 14% of survey respondents said that they are taking a road trip because gas prices are low this year, a significant increase compared to previous years. The current national average for a gallon of gas is hovering around $2.21 a gallon. Several states across the nation have prices below the $2 mark.
