Gas Prices Continue to Trend Upward

(Undated) – If you have put gas in the tank of your vehicle in the last week, you know prices have continued to climb. According to GasBuddy Head of Petroleum Analysis, Patrick DeHann, the jump in the price was the result of the dozen or so refineries, primarily in Texas, that were forced to shut down as a result of last week’s winter storm. DeHann says with the cold weather behind us, price increases should begin to slow. He says if there are no more interruptions we may even see gas prices start to move back down in the next couple of weeks. However, as we near spring weather, we’ll likely see another longer-term rise in prices as refineries start to transition to summer gasoline. The current National Average is at $2.70 a gallon. It’s $2.85 in Illinois and $2.72 in Indiana.
