Gas Prices Continue to Climb

(Undated) – For the tenth straight week the price at the pump has increased. According to Head of Petroleum Analysis for GasBuddy, Patrick DeHann, as Americans turn optimistic on COVID-19 recovery, we’ve been seeing insatiable demand for gasoline, which continues to recover far faster than oil production. DeHann says last week’s gasoline demand was just 1% below the pre-pandemic level, an extremely bullish factor likely to continue driving gas and oil prices up in the short term. He says if oil producers don’t ramp up production to meet demand, we may see some of the highest summer gas prices since 2014. The current national average is $2.87 a gallon. It’s $3.05 in Illinois and $2.72 in Indiana.
