(Undated) – The idea that “little old ladies” are more susceptible to scams appears to be false. According to a new study published by a division of the Better Business Bureau, “Gen Z” is just as vulnerable to scams as “Baby Boomers.” Dan O’Brien with the Better Business Bureau says the “lockdown” led to an increase in online scams across all age groups.
O’Brien says that “Gen Z”, those born between 1997-2012, was getting hit more with fake check scams. Fake check scams resulted in an average loss of $1,679 in 2020. O’Brien says many younger adults may not be as familiar with checks as compared to electronic payment methods, potentially making them more vulnerable.
