(Undated) – If you have children, you may be seeing “extra” money hit your bank account this week. Beginning Thursday many families with children six and under will receive $300 a month and/or $250 a month for children six to seventeen. The money is part of the expansion of the “Child Tax Credit” in the “American Rescue Plan.” The plan increased the Child Tax Credit from $2,000 per child to $3,000 per child for children over the age of six and from $2,000 to $3,600 for children under the age of six. It also raised the age limit from 16 to 17. Taxpayers can opt-out of the monthly benefit and have it all delayed until taxes are filed in 2022.
