(Undated) – Look out for the summer sun, heat, and humidity this weekend. With the forecast of temperatures in the 90’s and an afternoon heat index near 105, the American Red Cross reminds you of some basic summer safety tips. Stay inside during the hottest parts of the day. Drink plenty of water, wear light-colored loose-fitting clothes, and take frequent breaks if working outdoors. Check on family, friends, and neighbors who do not have air conditioning. Check on outside animals frequently to ensure that they are not suffering from the heat. For more information on what to do when temperatures rise, download the free Red Cross Emergency App. The app also gives users the option to receive alerts for excessive heat watches, warnings, and heat advisories.
