(Undated) – The Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Federation of Teachers are both supporting new COVID-19 mitigation recommendations from the CDC. The CDC issued updated guidelines Tuesday recommending indoor masks for teachers, staff, students, and visitors to all schools. The Illinois Department of Public Health says they will be following CDC guidelines in the state. However, they have stopped short of issuing a mandate. The number of COVID-19 cases in Illinois is increasing, especially among the unvaccinated. Governor, J.B. Pritzker, says he is reviewing the masking recommendations.
