Oblong Schools on “Probation”

(Oblong) – The Oblong Unit 4 School District is currently “on probation.” According to Oblong Superintendent, Jeff Patchett, the district received a letter Tuesday from the Illinois State Board of Education alerting them to the “probation” status. Patchett says the district had submitted their “Back to School” plan to the ISBE and received approval on August 16th, to move forward with the plan. However, a day later the ISBE alerted the district that their recognition status had been put on “probation.” Patchett says that he will be following up with the State Superintendent, Dr. Carmen Ayala, on Tuesday. The district’s “Back to School” plan made masks optional for students and staff. See the letter from the ISBE below.
