Thirty State Schools on Probation

(Undated) – The Oblong Unit 4 District is not alone in its “probation” status. The Illinois State Board of Education yesterday placed and additional twenty-one school districts on probation. That brings the statewide total to nearly thirty schools. It’s the first step toward possibly losing their accreditation, losing millions in state money, and not being able to compete in high school or junior high sports. Governor, JB Pritzker, ordered all schools in the state to require masks for all kids when they return to school this month. The districts on probation have the right to meet with the Illinois State Board of Education and to submit a corrective action plan. Districts have 60 days after a conference with the ISBE to act.
