(Undated) – Those currently struggling to make rent, may have gotten a reprieve. The Illinois Supreme Court is extending the state’s eviction ban for some cases. Justices amended an order yesterday pushing back certain residential eviction trials and motions to September 18th. Cases, where rental assistance isn’t a viable option, are exempted from the new order. The order also allows landlords to challenge the truthfulness of a tenant’s declaration that they are unable to pay rent.
