(Palestine) – An investigation continues into suspicious items found in a Palestine home during a search for a wanted individual. According to Palestine Police Chief, Jeff Besing, just after midnight on September 19th officers from the Palestine Police Department and Crawford County Sheriff’s Department received permission from the owner of a residence in the 300 block of East Grand Prairie to search the residence for a male subject wanted on a misdemeanor warrant. Besing says during the search, officers found items that could be used to make explosive devices. The officers evacuated and secured the residence and notified the Illinois Secretary of State Police Bomb Squad. Technicians examined the items and determined that they were inert and posed no immediate threat. The items in question were removed and secured by Crawford County Sheriff’s Department Deputy, Troy Wolf, Palestine Officer, Jake McGinness, and Chief Jeff Besing. Also assisting were Palestine Officer, Jacob Baxter, and Crawford County Sheriff’s Department Deputies, Shali Greathouse and Kyle Anderson.
