(Undated) – It’s fall and for many that means pumpkins. From your favorite pumpkin spiced drink to pumpkin pies and jack-o-lanterns, pumpkins are synonymous with this time of year and Illinois is the pumpkin capital of the world. According to John Ackerman, with Ackerman Family Farms in Morton, the pumpkin crop is “surprisingly good” after a wet summer.
The Ackerman Family Farms grows over 150 different varieties of pumpkins. The farm is open to the public and is located just off U.S. Route 150 in Morton.
