(Undated) – A bird in the road apparently led to a two-vehicle accident on route 33 late last week. According to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, at around 4 pm Friday, seventy-five-year-old Loretta Maddox of Robinson spotted a bird in the road and attempted a U-turn when she was struck by thirty-three-year-old Derek Shoulders of Oblong. Reports indicate that Shoulders attempted to avoid the collision and in doing so clipped a mailbox owned by Kourtney Coffman. Both vehicles sustained over fifteen hundred dollars in damage and had to be towed from the scene. United Life Care Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene and the Oblong Police Department assisted with traffic control.
