(Undated) – We’ve all heard of drug-sniffing dogs, but how about a natural gas sniffing vehicle. Ameren is introducing just such a vehicle. According to Ameren Vice President of Natural Gas Operation, Eric Kozar, the vehicle can identify the presence of methane emissions, locate the source of a potential leak, and speed up response time to repair pipelines. He says the technology will add to existing leak-detection activities and that the vehicle is up to a thousand times more sensitive to methane in the atmosphere than other detection methods.
