Trio Charged Following Clay County Murder Investigation

(Clay County) – An investigation in Clay County has led to burglary and murder charges for three men. According to the Illinois State Police, following their investigation, Clay County State’s Attorney, Andrew Koester, charged Walter West, Christopher Gallatin, and Jamie Charleton with one count each of First-Degree Murder Accountability, First-Degree Murder, and Residential Burglary. The trio has been charged with first-degree murder and residential burglary, alleging that they either committed the acts or acted as accomplices in the residential burglary and killing of Roger Courson in late September. The Illinois State Police was assisted by the Clay and Marion County Sheriff’s Departments, Centralia Police Department, and the Clay County State’s Attorney’s Office.
