Authorities Voice Concern Over Underage Drinking

(Undated) – Authorities are speaking out about underage drinking. According to Robinson Police Department School Resource Office, Floyd Brinkman, they are getting an increasing number of reports about parties that include underage drinking.

Brinkman says, in many cases, these parties are happening with the support and knowledge of parents.

The CDC reports that excessive drinking is responsible for more than 3,500 deaths among people under age 21 each year. The 2019 Youth Risk Behavior Survey found that among high school students, during the past 30 days 29% drank alcohol, 14% binge drank, 5% of drivers drove after drinking alcohol, and 17% rode with a driver who had been drinking alcohol.
