(Undated) – The man that has served as the Regional Superintendent for more than a decade is ready to call it quits. According to Regional Superintendent, Monte Newlin, he will not be seeking reelection when his current term ends in June of 2023. Newlin represents the Clay, Crawford, Jasper, Lawrence, and Richland Educational Service Region. He was appointed to the position to replace Carol Steinman in April of 2011 and was elected in his own right in 2012 to serve the remaining two years on Steinman’s unexpired term. He was subsequently re-elected in 2014 and 2018. Newlin says that he is ready to work with his elected successor to insure a smooth transition. He says that there are seven months between the election and the end of his term, so that will provide ample time to work with a new Regional Superintendent so they can hit the ground running on day one.
