(Undated) – Students will no longer be required by the state to wear masks. The statewide school mask mandate officially ends today. According to Governor, J.B. Pritzker, the new federal COVID-19 guidance announced by the CDC will allow the state to end its school masking requirement. The change comes a week after an appellate court rejected the governor’s attempt to enforce his COVID mitigation orders for Illinois schools. The Illinois Supreme Court also denied his appeal of a restraining order in a lawsuit challenging the school mask mandate.
