Lookout for People Asking to See Your Ameren Bill

scam-alert

(Undated) – If someone knocks on your door asking to see your Ameren bill, it’s a scam. An announcement that there will be a new delivery company for electric aggregation contracts in the new year, has the scammers out in full force. According to Citizens Utility Board Spokesman, Jim Chilsen, the pitch has the solicitors asking the homeowner to see their Ameren bill to “make sure they are getting the lowest rate possible.” He says if you give them any information, you can be victimized by a technique called “slamming.”

Chilsen says these solicitors are known to use high-pressure sales tactics. Authorities remind you that you are under no obligation to speak to these people and if you have a “No Solicitors” sign on your property, those pitching their products are legally required to leave you alone.
