(Undated) – You may want to double-check your driver’s license. Today is the deadline for driver’s licenses and ID cards to be renewed in Illinois. It applies to licenses that have expired since January 2020. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Illinois Secretary of State, Jesse White, issued an extended grace period for renewals of licenses, ID cards, and permits and that grace period ends today. It does not apply to commercial driver’s licenses or CDL learner’s permits. White’s office encourages people to complete the renewal process online to avoid long lines at a facility.
